The Ottawa Catholic Community shares the sentiments of so many who mourn the death of Pope Francis. He was a chosen instrument of God and a compassionate Shepherd for the poor, the marginalized, and those on the periphery. He invited all of us to accompany each other on the journey of faith. He often emphasized God‘s merciful love-something that resonated in my heart and the heart of many. His example of humility and compassion will continue in the members of the Church and in the world.
I want to thank all in our community who have offered their prayers and support in this time of sorrow. We commend his soul to God in this most holy season of Easter as we celebrate with hope the Resurrection of Jesus for all believers who have died, including Pope Francis.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. Requiescat in pace
